REQUIREMENTS: Minimum educational qualification: Certificate of Education and General Training (GETC) /Grade 9 (Standard 7). Experience: Adequate housekeeping, linen, and housekeeping experience in a hospital setting. Requirement inherent to the position: Availability to work shifts, weekends and holidays. Overtime and relief work in other districts to ensure efficient delivery of services. Competencies (Knowledge /Skills): Adequate working knowledge of all housekeeping, linen, and cleaning policies, protocols, procedures, and good work ethics. Good interpersonal, organisational and decision -making skills. Knowledge of safety and hygiene regulations. Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Knowledge of inventory/stock control. Ability to work in a team and independently.
DUTIES: Responsible for the general control, organisation, execution and coordination of tasks related to food, linen and hygiene services. Ensure control of cleaning, sorting, counting, unpacking, and laundering/draining of patient bedding and clothing. Effective management with respect to orders, utilisation, control of cleaning, kitchenware and household goods. Responsible for record keeping and collection of reports.. Coordination of the provision of effective training appropriate for the provision of the service. Effectively manage the use and monitoring of resources, as well as matters related to human resources.
