REQUIREMENTS: Minimum requirement: Basic knowledge of arithmetic and reading. Experience: Appropriate experience in a large scale hospital food service environment. Inherent Job Requirements: The incumbent must be prepared to work shifts and overtime including weekends and holidays. The incumbent must be healthy, strong enough to lift heavy objects and be on their feet all day. Must be willing to enter hospital wards. Competencies (Knowledge/Skills): Production knowledge for normal and therapeutic diets in a large scale Industrial Food Service Unit. Knowledge of hygiene, occupational health, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and safety principles. Ability to read, speak and write in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Ability to maintain good interpersonal skills.
DUTIES: Assist in the receipt and storage of all supplies and stock in the food service unit. Pre-prepare and produce all normal and therapeutic diets. Weigh, serve and distribute food to various neighborhoods. Clean all areas, utensils, and equipment in the Food Service Department. Follow and adhere to Health and Safety prescriptions. follow standardized PAWC Receipts and menus. Follow and comply with elementary control measures and standard operating procedures. Quality control of food portions according to standardized recipes.
