SALARY: R774,660 per year (full cost package) to R1,285,149 per annum (full cost package) [level LP-7 to LP-8]

REQUIREMENTS: LLB or any appropriate legal qualification to serve prosecutors. Right of appearance as referred to in section 25 (2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998. At least five years of post-qualification legal experience. Demonstrable competence to act independently, professionally, responsibly and credibly. Extensive experience in court proceedings or litigation regarding customary law crimes such as fraud, theft, forgery and pronunciation, commercial crimes and related matters. Ability to prosecute, guide investigations in complex situations. or more difficult matters, including business matters, drafting charge sheets, including indictments and court documents, handling representations. Financial or accounting training and knowledge of company law will be a added advantage. General computer literacy and knowledge of programs in MSWord; Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to act independently without supervise and manage the flow of cases and courts independently. Excellent administrative skills.
DUTIES: Study case files, assess them and decide on the institution. of prosecution. Deal with any representation. Guide investigations in complexes or more difficult matters, including business matters. Prepare cases for court, including the acquisition of additional evidence and draft charge sheets, indictments, and court documents. Present the State’s case in court, direct and cross-examine witnesses, address the court about, among other things, conviction and sentencing. Manage court and case flow management independently. Study and process appeals and reviews. Preparing opinions and arguments for complex matters and, in general, carrying out legal actions on behalf of the State. Orient and guide the investigative agents, prosecutors and concerned parties. Assist in high profile matters or matters where a higher risk element is present. Promote partner integration, community engagement, and client satisfaction with partners in criminal justice independently without supervision and manage the flow of cases and courts management independently.
