Civil Construction Safety Officer
Location: this position is site-based
We are seeking a Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by conducting inspections, enforcing safety regulations, and promoting a culture of health and safety on construction sites.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct site safety audits, inspections and hazard identification.
- Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with the OSH Act and company policies.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, recommending corrective actions.
- Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of audits, incidents and training.
- Support emergency preparation and response planning.
- Advise supervisors and workers on safe work practices.
- Assess subcontractor and SMME safety performance.
- To promote a proactive safety culture and lead by example.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree or NQF Level 5 qualification in SHE Management or a related field.
- SACPCMP registration as a Safety Officer is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in a construction safety role.
